Mechanics
It’s going to take some time to get used to this fight so make sure everyone comes in with the mindset this is going to take a while.
This fight is all about how and when we damage the adds, we’re going to be assigning CDs to add pools and looking to nuke them correctly together.
We need to stay composed and keep our nerves in check, we can take as long as we want in this fight to kill it as long as the adds are dying correctly and we’re keeping up with the mechanics.
Phase 1
We tank the boss near the right side of the room, this positions us directly on top of one of the first skirmishers and keeps us close to where we need to be on the first intermission.
Bouncing blades are taken through boss to the other side, we need to make sure that the tanks and melee try their best to avoid being hit by the blades, this requires you to always keep your distance from the boss and be in the correct position.
The series of events in phase 1 are:
Set 1
- Goliath – Need to kill before Crystalise
- Skirmishers
- Crystalise 1
Set 2
- Goliath – Need to kill before Crystalise
- Skirmishers
- Crystalise 2
We always drop the crystalize to the right of the group the exact same as heroic, there’s no marker so be quick to move and everyone else can pre-move if they have bleeds. This needs to be as consistent as possible, we need to make sure that everyone is dropping their bleeds, you do not want more than 2 as you’ll likely die.
Intermission 1
The series of events in intermission 2 are:
Set 3
- DO NOT TOUCH THE COMMANDOS
- Kill the Goliath asap before Crystalise
- Drop a crystallize
- Burst available Commandos when around 5
- You then bring in remaining commandos one by one until you hand in 9 orbs
- Orb #10 needs to be carefully dropped off for the transition so we can get in the correct position safely.
Blades need to be dropped by the statue, use personals and externals liberally here.
The Red Swirlies should not be underestimated, I’m making it crystal clear that you need to take time to actually dodge these, they do an insane amount of damage.
We’re not stacking directly in the corner when we transition out of this phase as swirlies need to be baited away from the corner.
Phase 2
We tank the boss in the middle of the platform, this makes it easier for us to move to the Eruption spots (Star, Circle, Diamond, Triangle). Bouncing blades are still placed towards the statue at the top of the platform
The series of events in phase 2 are:
Set 4
- Pots
- Nuke Skull Skirmisher
- Crystalise 4
- Goliath + Rest of Skirmishers
- Eruption 1
- Upheaval
Set 5
- Skirmishers
- Eruption 2
- Crystalise 5
- Goliath
- Upheaval
- Eruption 3
Set 6
- Skirmishers
- Upheaval
- Crystalise 6 (Wait for Crystalise 6 before pushing)
- Eruption 4
Seismic Upheaval is really simple on paper but will take some practice to get right. This is basically the one mechanic we want everyone to emphasize with WAs, we need to make sure people aren’t rushing ahead too much, we don’t want movement speed here.
Soaking is relatively simple, it’s just a case of sorting out WAs, our backups should always expect to soak and be shit-hot with covering people, we’ll be assigning high movement classes like warriors and Venthyr.
Intermission 2
This phase is like intermission 1 but more punishing because we have less room and lots of soaks to sort out.
- Taunt Commandos to boss, DO NOT TOUCH THESE!
- Kill the Goliath nuke it ideally before Crystallize drops, assign big ST cooldowns to this Goliath
- Drop a crystallize
- Bring in as many Commandos as you can
- Blow up the adds.
Everyone needs to be on the same page here. Ranged need to keep their hands off the keyboard until the Commandoes are brought in together, we can really fuck up this phase if they’re too low health too quickly.
There’s a lot of waiting around here, we are ready to hand in Orb #10 once we’ve had the 8th Eruption, this means every eruption slots is full. As soon as this happens we phase the boss into the last phase.
The series of events in intermission 2 are:
Set 7
- Goliath – Only focus this
- Eruption 5
Set 8
- Crystalise 7
- Eruption 6
- Commandos
- Eruption 7
- DO NOT PUSH UNTIL ERUPTION 8
- Crystalise 8
- Eruption 8
- Blades (watch out when phasing)
Phase 3
Tank the boss in the middle of the platform, ideally it would be the same distance to all eruption spots, so everyone can get to their spots easier.
Now it’s time to do everything together and kill this boss, so just keep composed and keep doing what we’ve already been doing. Second set of adds we ignore and tank off to the side, second crystalize we grip the person out of the meteor so no more bleeds removed.
This phase is faster paced but actually less aggravating than the ones before. We don’t have as many silly overlaps (i.e. no Goliaths) and it’s just a game of alternating between Soaks > Upheaval > Blades while dealing with enemies.
Sort out which tank will off-tank the second set of Skirmishers, they should be pulled off to the side. Winds will significantly hinder our ability to juggle the rapid-fire succession of Blades > Upheavals > Soaks.
The series of events in phase 3 are:
Set 9
- Skirmishers spawn – DO NOT TOUCH THESE
- Crystalise 9
- Eruption 9 – Use Roar
- Heroism + Pots + Kill Boss & Skirms
- Upheaval
Set 10
- Skirmishers – DO NOT TOUCH THESE, just tank, we do not want winds as it’ll wipe us
- Eruption 10
- Crystalise 10
- Upheaval
- Eruption 11
- Boss is Dead
Tanks
Best tank trinkets on this fight are absorb trinkets, when the goliath hits 30% in 5 seconds you’ll be unhealable, shields are going to be your best friend on this fight!
Written Guide
Healing Notes
We need heavy cooldowns for every meteor and need to look at health increase cd’s for when the Goliath is dying as no players can get healed.
